We do a lot of things daily as individuals, so many in fact that some of the daily habits we thought were safe and unharmful, are actually very harmful to the brain. This is the last thing any of us want, to damage the brain. What will happen if the brain gets damaged? As most of us already know, the brain is the most important organ [part] in the body because it helps the body function properly.
Let’s say, if anything were to happen to the brain, it could make a person start acting abnormal, crazy, and in a worst-case scenario, the person dies. In today’s article, I’ll be looking at 10 daily habits you need to stop doing because it causes harm to your brain.
COVERING YOUR HEAD DURING SLEEPING
It is a common thing people do when they’re sleeping. Most people do it because it helps them sleep properly. Some people say it keeps them warm. Everybody has different reasons why they sleep with their heads covered. Who knows? But one thing I’m sure about is this sleeping style is bad.This sleeping style is bad because research shows that up to 23% of people that sleep in this way suffered brain damage [Dementia]. Dementia occurs due to a lack of oxygen to the brain because if you cover your head, it will obviously limit the flow of air to your brain.
CHRONIC LACK OF SLEEP
This is also harmful like the first one because it can cause Alzheimer’s [Which is the next stage after Dementia disease worsens over the years] and other neurological disorders, and a continuous lack of sleep harms your memory too. To prevent this, you need to start sleeping at least 7-8 hours every day.
As most people already know, 2/3 of the human body contains water, and 1/3 of the brain contains water. So lack of water can obviously lead to brain shrinkage, which in turn can cause harm to you. Always stay hydrated to prevent harm to your brain.
LACK OF MENTAL STIMULATION ANDThis means not making much use of your brain. It’s always advisable to exercise your brain by studying more, socially staying active, and interacting with people. By regularly doing all this, you are constantly exercising your brain.
EXPOSURE TO LOUD NOISES EXERCISE
Doctors always tell us to stay away from loud noises, especially your headphone, not because they hate you or something. This is because it damages your hearing, which is linked to the brain. If you must listen to music on your headphones, make sure the volume is at 50% and removing it from your ear from time to time.
AVOID EATING TOO MUCH JUNK FOODS
Too much sugar can lead to many health complications in your body.
We all know that smoking causes lung cancer and other dangerous side effects, but what people don’t know is smoking also affects the brain. Smoking reduces the oxygen flow in your brain.
DRINKING TOO MUCH ALCOHOL
There is nothing wrong with drinking alcohol. It’s not wrong, provided you’re 18 years above, the only problem is drinking too much of it. When you start drinking too much alcohol, you get addicted, and when you’re addicted, you may start lacking vitamin B1 and magnesium.
Lack of vitamin B1 can cause confusion, memory loss, and emotional instability. Lack of magnesium can cause depression and disorientation, so you need to stop drinking too much alcohol.
WORKING WHEN YOU’RE SICK
Take a day off and rest because multitasking your brain is not advisable, not when you’re sick. It may lead to more complications and damages later on.
