People, well if not all, most people especially young minds in our society today do say “NO MONEY IN PHOTOGRAPHY ASPECT CAN BE MADE, GOING TO THE FIELD IS JUST A WASTE OF TIME” they even mock most photographers that are yet to be financially stable. The answer I can give to this havoc is “NO” because here are some few tips on How to make money with photography:
Sharing is Caring
There are some mistakes you need to avoid as a Photographer or film maker which are just three(3) and they’re:
*Shooting:- which is the actual applications with the camera.
*Editing:- mistakes that you make as a photographer when editing photographs, you have to be unique in your editing as a photographer
And the last aspect I’m going to be talking about is the Business Aspect Of Photography. As a Photographer, there are some few things to know that can make you BOOM! in the business aspect of it:
♤ Contracts: Contracts are so important because they’re to protect you, no matter who you’re shooting for, may it be a friend or a family, it doesn’t matter, just get a contract which contains laying out everything you hope to do for them(clients), then both of you(Client and Photographer) should sign it, the fee$$$ conversation must be included in the contract. It’s very mandatory that contract involves commitment and good jobs and it can only stop when the contract is being terminated. However, expectation is the biggest mistake when they’re always different from one person to the other. That’s why they’re set clear at the very first beginning so that there will be no complaint because you have a contract. Business is better when you have a contract.
♤ Not Charging Enough: As a photographer, at the beginning, you must not be an advocate for free jobs because the time you wasted on a job is valuable and it literally worths money. So you must charge enough for your clients because it’s going to pave way for great paths and adventures for you as a photographer. You bought and spend on your camera thousands of dollars$ and still you don’t want to charge enough because your client is a close friend or family, we don’t bring that into business.
♤ Checklist: As a photographer, you need a check list for your job to be a lit. For instance, if you’re asked to shoot in a wedding ceremony, you must have a checklist that contains everything that has to do with the wedding e.g Wedding Dress, Drinks, Gifts, First looks of people when they get to the event etc.
♤ Meeting-In-Person: Most jobs today are done via email, text messages but as a good professional Photographer, you need to meet your client in person, you need to show them the kind of person you are. Also note this as a photographer “YOU ARE AS MUCH AS THE ACTUAL IMAGES AND VIDEOS YOU’RE SHOOTING”, so sell yourself by showing them why they want to hire you for the job. You have to meet them in person instead of sending messages via email or text messages.
If you can follow all the little tips discussed above as an upcoming or professional photographer, you will surely scale through and make it in life.
